  • Malt

    One of the main ingredients used to produce beer. The malt used in beer production is usually malted barley, although other malted grains are sometimes used in small quantities. Malt is produced by steeping grain in water and then allowing it to germinate. The germinated grain is then kiln dried and rootlets are removed. Malting grains activates enzyme production and begins the process of converting starch into sugar.
