Gravity Units
Gravity Units (GU) are a way of expressing Specific Gravity as whole numbers by using the significant figures after the decimal point. For example a specific gravity of 1.048 expressed in Gravity Units will be 48.
Gravity Units become particularly useful when using them to calculate the Total Gravity of a wort as Total Gravity doesn't change when you add or remove water. For more information see Total Gravity.
Also known as Excess Gravity.
