Lupus

The name of the brewery related to the mysterious dangerous archaic predator that lived in our region centuries ago, named wolf or canis lupus in latin. But every beer lover knows that the latin name for hop also refers to the above mentioned archaic animal: humulus lupulus.

Alongside the ramps of the Demer valley in the north of Hageland, the region where centuries ago the lupus was stealing over his prey, you can find the main seat of the traditional Lupus Brewery. The story of our brewery started in 2003. Peter Van der Borght decided, after a brewery visit in the Ardennen, another region of Belgium, to brew beer by himself. He took several brew classes, learned from advice of other well-established belgian beer brewers and experimented with all kinds of recipes and procedures, years after years …

Three of his friends, Jo Discart, Paul Van der Borght and Luc Sempels, joined him and together they founded on may the 13 th of 2008 the firm Brewery Lupus Belgium limited.

Peter and his friends want to brew dangerously delicious beers with the unique wolf character. Traditional recipes are unconditionally respected during the whole brewing process.

On Saturday the 21st of February 2009, Lupus beers were presented to the public. Since than Lupus beers been distributed to shops.

Lupus invite all beer lovers to taste wolf beers. Wolf is not only delicious, wolf is dangerously delicious.
