In 2007 they started “Home brewery the Cradle / Hobbybrouwerij Het Nest”. The first success was a third place at the Open Dutch Championships for home brewers in the “tripel” class.
In 2008 they started cooperation with Boelens who was not only prepared to brew the beers, but allowed them to do most of the brewing themselves. “Schuppenboer tripel” was born. The recipe of this tripel was based on the winning one in 2008.
Although a brewer in the West of Belgium tried to sabotage , the commercialization of the Schuppenboer tripel became a big success. Already in 2009 changed from brewer twice to keep up with the growing demand. First ‘t Hofbrouwerijke brewed edition 2009, and after that De Scheldebrouwerij took over. Today the beer is still produced there.
In November 2009 a second beer was born: Hertenheer. This beer is with 100EBU rather bitter.
The latest beer is Kleveretien, a dark and strong winter beer. It was released in November 2010 for the very first time and sold out in less than three months. A new batch will be ready in September 2011.
A beer to celebrate 800 years Turnhout can be expected beginning of 2012.
