The family"s involvement in brewing is older still as Joseph Leroy and his family brewed on the Ghissegnies estate right in front of the present day brewery.
However, in order to abolish the unfair competition presented by the fact that all the aristocracy"s estates were exempt from tax, Empress Marie-Therese quite simply ordered their destruction.
Later on, in 1931, Alfred Dubuisson decided to give up farming to devote all his time to producing beer.
His brother, Amedee Dubuisson, joined him and together they bought their parents farm-brewery.
In 1933, wishing to meet the growing competition of English beers, Alfred Dubuisson decided to brew a blend of the Belgian and English tastes.
He named his fortunate creation Bush Beer, the English literal translation of the Dubuisson beer.
Little by little, Bush Beer became the main product of the Dubuisson brewery.
In 1998, on the occasion of the Bush Beer"s 65th anniversary, the Brewery Dubuisson launched a new beer named Bush Blond.
Since 1991, Brewery Dubuisson has been producing a special Christmas ale, the Bush de Noel.
In 1994, Hugues Dubuisson, the family"s current brewer created a new beer to celebrate the family brewery"s 225th anniversary: Bush 7%.
