Good thick, pale cream head over near-black beer with deep-red reflections. Nuts, hazel- and walnuts, old portwine, sweet, dark raisins. Slight bitterish edge round sweet, very port-like beer. Palate has agreable oxydiation with melanoidins. As to the body, here the portwine-image, as well as the comparison to La Trappe dubbel fails: way too thin, nearly watery. Very decently aged beer with very good balance - younger samples less outstanding. The beer being filtered, however, makes it more prone to oxydation.
