Let us turn the clock back to 1100... At that time the Count of Flanders, known as Baldwin Hapkin with the Axe, commissioned the Cistercian friars of the Ten Duinen abbey to brew a strong blonde beer for his people. The friars produced a heavenly nectar making the Count and his soldiers invincible in battle. The renown of the Count"s beer soon spread all over the county and his beer is the basis of the current Hapkin so much enjoyed by those who prefer bitter beers with much character.
The Saaz hops are added on four different occasions to achieve a mild bitterness. Hapkin undergoes a final fermentation after bottling.

Hapkin has a flowery aroma thanks to the Saaz hops, a mild malty character and a sparkling, perfumed fruitiness that lingers awhile and then gradually fades away after drinking. Hapkin has a unique, imposing and creamy head.
Hapkin is a strong blonde beer with a fruity aroma and a mild bitterness, undergoing a second fermentation after bottling.
