In 1664 he opened a barrel of one of his brews and at once knew he was going to make history. Hatt settled in the French Alsace, where he set up a brewery in Kronenbourg. The brewery gradually grew into France"s largest. The 1664 brand is the top product of the range. 1664 has become internationally famous. In 1952 the "1664" lager was first drawn in its current guise, when it was launched ceremoniously on the occasion of the enthronement of Queen Elizabeth. A classy statement. The luxury lager has not lost anything of its international allure. Alken-Maes, as part of an international brewery group, gives 1664 the place it deserves in the Benelux.

Kronenbourg 1664 is a top-quality, sophisticated product with a refreshing character.

The unique use of 100 % pure malt, carefully brewed, gives Kronenbourg 1664 its typically mild and balanced flavour. This golden lager has a firm head and a refreshing mixed-fruit aroma with hints of yeast and hops.
